3Decent toy for the price
By Ce Mo
My two year old is very paticular about toys and either she plays with them non-stop or has nothing to do with them. Since buying her toys are always such a hit and miss with her I always try to purchase the cheaper version first to test them out with her, if she loves the toy we eventually replaace it with the better brand.I purchased this toy for $10 on amazon and in my opinion for the price it was worth it, my daughter enjoys it. I personally dont have many problems with the toy but I will list some of the cons I know many people might have based on many complaints I have read on other toy reviews.

1) This toy is made for learning British English, Z is pronounced zed. And the voice does speak, pronounce and teach words with a british accent.
2) There is no volume control and the sound is pretty loud, so if you can't stand noisy toys this is not for your home.
3) Music mode is just melodies, loud keyboard type tunes, they do not sing or teach your kids words to songs.
4) The off and on button is located on the front with the other buttons, when the button is pushed to turn it off non of the other buttons work this could cause frustration with a smaller child that pushes it accidentaly. Also if you have this in a toy bin and toss something on top of it that lands on the button it will turn on not a big problem because after a minute of not being played with it turns off automatically but if your child is sleeping nearby there is a good chance this toy will wake them up.
5) The toy itself feels cheaply constructed when you first take it out of the box, however we have owned if for a few months now and have had no problems and this toy has been thrown, tossed, stepped on and dropped.

My biggest issues with this toy is the on and off button placement, when it goes off in the toy bin (always when we are picking up the toys) my daughter is compelled to dig it out, pulling all the other toys out of the bin and turn it off. If you don't put it aside to be the last toy in the bin it will most likely go off again after something is tossed on top of it. And it would be nice if I could adjust the volume, my daughter likes to bring this toy to the table and sit and play with it while I do my schoolwork, the loudness can be very distracted when you're trying to study.

5My 2yr old loves this little toy
By WitchyPooh
my son loves this toy and it really helps him with memory. my only complaint was i wish it had a switch instead of on/off button on front cause everytime i put it in my bag to carry with us (to market or dr office for example) the on button is constantly pushed by things in my purse and all the music starts playing/talking. but i guess they wanted easy on/off button for the kid to use. Anyway my son loves this toy, great price too.

3too loud :(
By Carlos De Cunha
this toy arrived two days ago and while it may be unfair to rate aspects such as durability i feel compelled to say what i do know about it so far.
physically it seems fairly built: sturdy plastic, light weight, soft buttons- all good points.
what i don't like however is the fact that there is no volume control and to my ears some of the words are distorted- something i have come to attribute to unnecessarily high volumes. but we will not know this for sure because we cannot reduce the volume and test the results :(
the other factor that has me sitting on 3 stars is the "auto off" function- or should i say the greeting that accompanies the function. so far it has not only startled me but also my husband at different times. and again i think the volume has a role to play in this because my son does have other toys that goes off automatically - with voice alert - but i don't recall ever being startled like i was with this toy. also, the time lapse that it takes to turn off really snaps you back. sometimes all other activity has already ground to a halt and we're halfway across the room and then suddenly there is a voice!!!
once i got over that fact, the other thing that is a pain to contend with is the position of the on/off button. my son is fascinated with the "see you later" so he keeps pressing the button just to hear that. the problem is, usually AFTER he hears that greeting he continues to press other buttons expecting to hear other sounds; but gets frustrated when there is none. i think he is confused because he has other toys that has a greeting when they are turned ON. but in this case, there is just a regular sound to indicate ON, and a greeting for OFF.
MAYBE if the on/off button was totally different in appearance, or located in the side or even back, it would help kids understand that there is something specific about that one and it shouldn't be pressed like the others...just sayin...
so in summary:
i gave it 3 stars because there is probably as much bad as there is good to be had with this toy.
as i said above, it seems well built for toddlers, and the learning materials packed into it is also great.
i don't have a problem with the "zed" for zebra because that is the way we speak in my country. so that is a plus in my case.
i most certainly can't say: don't buy this toy; but i also wouldn't put it as my first recommendation for a toddler wish list.
that said, i hope i have done it justice in all regards.
