Fantastic Math Manipulatives

We are still in the preschool years and are already loving these. In fact, we've ordered a follow-up set of 155 (available here on Amazon) to have more 10s and 1s to work on place value. Look online for a free Cuisenaire Rod pre-Miquon primer that's great for introducing the values of the rods and concepts behind them.
The description wasn't very detailed, so here is the breakdown of our kit:
22 x 1 cm white blocks
12x 2 cm red rods
10 x 3 cm light green rods
6 x 4 cm purple rods
4 each of the 5 cm, 6 cm, 7cm, 8 cm, 9 cm, and 10 cm rods.

Cheap, cheap, cheap.

These were not exactly the same length as each other. Defeats the purpose! Also, they came warped slightly and they warped more over time. Totally annoying to try and use these with the Miquon Math program. Save yourself much trouble and buy the traditional wooden or plastic ones. If you must have the connecting aspect, buy Unifix Cubes instead.

These blocks are made of plastic and can stick together. Each number is a different color so the kids can identify them quite quickly. Which is wonderful for explaining number bonds in addition. My hands on learner really benifited from this hands on tool as he was learning math. Don't know how I would have taught him otherwise. These are so helpful. Only wish I would have gotten the larger set!
