V-Tech Whiz Kid Learning System
By ACee
My five year old grandaughter is having lots of fun with this game. I ordered it for her birthday. Her mother finds the educational material an excellent reinforcement for what she is learning at school. She likes its versatility. My grandaughter enjoys it most when she connects it to the computer.

'Whiz Kid' for my whiz kid
By S. K. Dunn
I bought this as a learning tool for my grandson who's in kindergarten. He hardly plays with anything else. Once very shy when it came to participating in class, now he's the first one to raise his hand. Excellent learning tool for beginers in reading and math...and so much more

Age recommendation: 4-6, not 3-6
By Ayah David
The Whiz Kid unit itself comes with a pretty cool learning CD called "Wondertown," but the CD set it comes with is more like a survey of activities for kids ranging anywhere from 3-6. Some of the activities are:
-You have 2 one-dollar-bills and you go to a snack machine with prices on the snacks. What can you buy?
-Telling time.
-Giving you a picture like a boat, you have the word "b _ _ t," and the child is supposed to choose the right vowel combination (oa, oo, ee, ea) to make that word
-Tracing numbers, letters, and pictures (which is one of the activities appopriate for my preschooler)
-Nursery rhymes and stories. Your child is following the story, pretending to act out that particular motion on the page (like stirring a bowl would have a picture of a bowl and the child is making circles with the pen).
I really think if you are buying this toy you should buy the age-specific books to go with it. The Whiz Kid is very cool but most activities are too hard for a 3-year-old. We bought two Pre-K CDs for it and they are much more appropriate for him but I still feel this should be age-rated at 4+.
I think the Wondertown activities are better than the themed activities that are the Pre-K/K CDs (like Thomas, Bob the Builder, Spiderman, Dora). It's a shame they didn't sell the Whiz Kid for slightly less with no books included, and created Wondertowns for each age group and sold them separately. JMO.
It's definitely better than other Vtech products. Normally I despise Vtech with a passion and bought this based on the good reviews. I am not disappointed.
